The objective of the 2010 ACCLF Writing Contest is to innovate change through creativity. This year’s contest theme is designed for participants to explore the contributions of Black inventors and their inventions. Inventions by Black inventors are today’s modern conveniences and necessities.
From ancient times through today, people of African descent have contributed to the advancement of medicine, physics and industrialization.
Participants must answer the question. “Which Black inventor has created an invention that has changed or enhance everyday living, and why?” Participants are invited to submit a short story, essay or poem no longer than 3 pages. This contest is open to children and youth from 5 - 18 years of age.
The top 3 winners in 3 separate age categories will be recognized and awarded with monetary prizes and gifts on Sunday February 14, 2010 at the York Woods Library Theatre, located at 1785 Finch Avenue W, west of Keele Street, in Toronto.
